  • 1. Science Quiz Contest.

     Eligibality :

    • 1. Senior Group : 3 Students from standard 8th and 9th from a school.
    • 2. Jonior Group : 3 Students from standard 6th and 7th from a school.
      • Rules :

        • 1. After registeration of teams, draws of the contestents are decided.
        • 2. After playing a number of rounds, two teams contest each other in the finals.
        • 3. Each round comprises of 10 question which are to be answered in 30 seconds.
        • 4. The top two teams are awarded medals and certificates immediately after the contest.
        • 5. The contest is separately organised for English and Marathi mediums.
  • 2. Story Narration.

     Eligibality :

    • 1. Senior Group : A maximun of 2 students from standard 8th and 9th from a school.
    • 2. Jonior Group : A maximun of 2 students from standard 6th and 7th from a school.
      • Rules :

        • 1. Contestants are required to think over a specific pinciple and prepare and narrate a science fiction story in a maximum of 7 minutes. The warning bell is rung after 5 minutes.
        • 2. Students are adhering to the time limit are discarded.
        • 3. The contest is organized seperately for English and Marathi mediums.
        • 4. The Top two from each category are awarded medals and cerificates immediately after the contest.
  • 3. Science Eassy Competition.

     Eligibality :

    • 1. Senior Group : A maximun of 2 students from standard 8th and 9th from a school.
    • 2. Jonior Group : A maximun of 2 students from standard 6th and 7th from a school.
      • Rules :

        • 1. Student is expected to write on any one of the topics declared at the commencement of the acadamic year.
        • 2. The word limit for the Senior Group is 1000 words and for the Junior Group is 500 words.
        • 3. The paper for writing the eassy is proided by the organizers.
        • 4. The results are announced after assesment, roughly along with the Sir C.V.Raman exam results.
        • 5. The Top two from each category are awarded medals and cerificates.
  • 4. Projects

     Eligibality :

    • 1. Group-A : A maximun of 2 students from standard 8th and 9th from a school.
    • 2. Group-B : A maximun of 2 students from standard 6th and 7th from a school.
      • Rules :

        • 1. The topic and subtopics of the project to be undertaken are declared in the circular issued in the beginning of the year. The project should be presented on the prescribed date at the assigned venue for assessment.
        • 2. Candidates whose projects are selected will be expected to present the project to the judges in a maximum of ten minutes on the prescribed date. They should be able to answer the questions of the judges.
        • 3. The Top two successful candidates are awarded medals and certificates in the program organized on National Science Day.
  • 5. Sir C.V.Raman Science Talent Exam.

     Eligibality :

    • For students of Std 5th and 8th from Marathi and English Medium.
      • Rules :

            Exam Registeration

            Every school should fill in the exam form of the Trust as per medium and standard, duly stamped and signed by the head and submit the same to National English School, Virar (W) or G.J Vartak Vidyamandir School, Vasai Road.
            Those students who wish to appear for the exam independently can fill the same exam form duly stamped and signed by the head of the school or parents and submit the same to National English School, Virar (W) or G.J Vartak Vidyamandir School, Vasai Road.

            Exam Pattern

            The Sir C.V. Raman Science Talent Search contest is conducted in two phases.
            1st phase (written examination) :
            The written examination of 100 marks contain 81 questions.
            Q.1 to 4. Labelling & for drawing diagrams(16 Marks)
            Q.5. Four sub questions based on diagrams(04 Marks)
            Q.6 to 55. Multiple choice questions from this question bank(50 Marks)
            Q.56. to 80. Multiple choice questions.(25 Marks)
            (Based on current scientific evens, inventions & discoveries, scientific facts and questions related to the Topics from this bank., but not printed in this question bank.)
            Q.81. Comprehension passage (unseen) 5 sub questions(05 Marks)
            Out of the total participants, all the participants securing 40 or more marks will receive passing certificates.
            The top 20 students from each category will be selected for practicals (second phase).
            IInd phase (practicals and viva voce):
            The practical examination of 20 marks is conducted in which students are expected to do two experiments & answer related questions.
            A viva of 10 marks follows, in which botanical and zoological specimens, models are used and the student is expected to identify, classify, mention characteristics/functions/uses etc as expected by the examiner.

            Winner Selection

            Method of selecting merit – holders in this examination
            The marks obtained in the first and second phase are added & the top 10 are selected and given prizes. .
            The top five selected students are given cash prizes of Rs. 275, Rs. 250, Rs.200, Rs. 175, Rs. 125 respectively.
            Over and above this, the top three get a gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
  • 6. Science Day-28th February Every Year.

    All the 20 students selected for practicals are given merit certificates.
    All the prizes for the Sir C.V. Raman Science Talent Search contest are given on
    the National Science Day, 28th February.
